YAY | Pastoral Updates

Our Associate Pastor Nominating Committee continues to look for our next full time pastor. They've been diligently interviewing candidates nation-wide, checking references and listening to a million sermons. Know that they are hard at work to bring the next right pastor to DOWNTOWN CHURCH.

In the meantime, we’ve got some exciting updates for our pastoral team we can't wait to share with you:

Charles Weathers has increased his hours with us! He is now our Pastor of Care and Connection. He is working 30 hours a week with us, focusing most of his time on offering pastoral care for our congregation and providing leadership for our small groups. Mary Nickel is joining our staff as our Theologian in Residence. She is working 5 hours a week with us, focusing her time on teaching bible study and engaging in the deep questions about scripture, faith and philosophy. Connect with Mary: mary@downtownchurch.me

Both Charles and Mary will now be able to perform the sacraments - baptism and communion - at DOWNTOWN CHURCH! We get to celebrate Mary's ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in worship on Sunday, June 23, 2024 and we are planning a party to celebrate Charles' new role with our fall kick off in August. More details coming soon.
