In late March 2021, a group of DOWNTOWN CHURCH folk walked into the woods. Some had done it before, others didn’t quite know what they were getting into. It rained, it poured, the sun came out, and we had an amazing time getting to know one another in God’s oldest and grandest of sanctuaries: outside.
NEXT WILDERNESS TRIP

Where: The mountains. Probably in Western NC or Eastern Tennessee (within driving distance of Columbia) - but we haven't quite picked the location and route yet.
Dates: 11/8 - 11/10 (We will be leaving first thing Friday morning)
Experience Level: Intermediate-ish....We'll be hiking 5-8ish miles every day carrying our own packs. Participants should have some experience in the backcountry. If you went on a previous trip with DOWNTOWN CHURCH or have other experience on a 2-3 day trip, then you will be ready for this trip. If this would be your first time carrying your own pack and sleeping in a tent, this may not be the right trip for you - reach out so we can discuss more.
Cost: $70
Space: The trip will be capped at 12 folks.

WILDERNESS TRAINING
What: We are hiring a First Responder with many years of experience helping prepare and equip folks to be in the backcountry. This is not a "formal" course. We very targeted at answering questions we have and preparing folks for trips we take.
Why: There has been lots of interest from folks wanting to be better equipped for when inevitably a challenge arises in the backcountry or something doesn't go according to play. We are organizing this to gain more knowledge and have more confidence to deal with the unexpected.
