ADVENT | Habakkuk

The wait is on. We’re counting down the days until Christmas Eve, when we celebrate the birth of our Savior and welcome light into our aching world.

During this season of Advent, we are exploring one of the books of the Bible that doesn’t get a lot of love, Habakkuk.  Habakkuk is one of twelve minor prophets in the Old Testament. During a season of impending danger, when the Babylonian empire is rising up against the nation of Judah, Habakkuk pleads with God on the people’s behalf. He cries out, “How long, O Lord?”

We hear those words spoken today. “How long?” From the grocery clerk to the bride and groom to the overworked first responders and medical professionals. We’re all asking God when the wait will come to an end.

Countdown the days of advent with us.

You can catch up on any past sermons here.

And read the short book of Habakkuk anytime on your own. It’s only 3 chapters. Take some pen and paper and jot down any questions you have about the book. Send them to the church email (connect@downtownchurch.me) if you want some conversational response. No promised answers, but we like the questions.
