WORSHIP | Guest Preacher Voices

In the last few months, you’ve gotten to hear the word proclaimed, not just by our preacher Dawn, but by preachers Charles Weathers, Alan Arnold, Shavon Starling-Louis, Alice Hernandez and Bill Brown.

We’ve been ridiculously lucky, have we not?!

In the next few months you will get to hear the word proclaimed through even more voices that will bring the kingdom close in many textures and forms.

And as we hear more voices, we should take a moment and clarify that none of those voices will be our installed Associate Pastor.

This is not The Voice. The NBC hit show where there are four judges enthroned in swivel chairs with big red buttons and moments when they get to claim the voice of the one behind their back.

This is not The Voice. It's better, because it is worship. And in worship, similar to the the voice, we need to hear different voices for the meaning of the message to take root in us.

That’s why Sting's "Fields of Gold" has been redone 355 times (I completely made up number) and why it sent shivers up our spine when we heard Maelyn Jarmon cover it as her audition to The Voice.

In worship, hearing the voice isn’t enough. We need to see the face behind the voice. We need to learn their story. And we need to see how their story connects us to God's story in scripture.

God is preparing our next pastor for us and when it is time, you will meet her or him through a congregational meeting where your red button will be your own voice rising to say “YES” bring on that full time pastor-preacher to serve alongside us.

In the meantime, sit back, enjoy the voices of the preachers we get to hear!
