Awake My Soul rewritten
A few people asked about the lyrics for "Awake My Soul" after Sunday's Reveal Service. We did have a sidebar note in the program to alert the rabid Mumford and Sons fans in attendance that we had altered the lyrics slightly to make the song work for worship. We will likely be doing more of this in the future since the library for alternative worship music is pretty much limited to commercially successful contemporary Christian pop-worship tunes. There's nothing wrong with them, but who said you have to sing pop-worship music only? See below to compare the original and Downtown version of the tune. [twocol_one]
New Lyrics
How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes I struggle to find any truth in this life And now my heart stumbles on things I don’t know This weakness I feel I must finally show
Lend me your hand and we’ll conquer them all Lend me your heart and I’ll know my true call Lend me your eyes I can change what I see Forever my soul will kept in thee Har har, har har, har har, har har
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die Where you invest your love, you invest your life In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die Where you invest your love, you invest your life
Awake my soul, awake my soul Awake my soul You were made to meet your maker You were made to meet your maker

Real Lyrics
How fickle my heart and how woozy my eyes I struggle to find any truth in your lies And now my heart stumbles on things I don't know This weakness I feel I must finally show
Lend me your hand and we'll conquer them all But lend me your heart and I'll just let you fall Lend me your eyes I can change what you see But your soul you must keep, totally free Har har, har har, har har, har har
In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die Where you invest your love, you invest your life In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die Where you invest your love, you invest your life
Awake my soul, awake my soul Awake my soul You were made to meet your maker You were made to meet your maker
