As we approach the sacred season of Advent, a time of anticipation and reflection, we invite you to join us for a special book study intended to deepen your understanding and experience of this holy season. Over the course of the four Sundays of Advent (12/1, 12/8, 12/15, and 12/22), from 1:30 to 2:30 pm, we will gather to explore Advent: The Once and Future Coming of Jesus Christ by Fleming Rutledge.

Overview:
Advent is a season of waiting, hope, and profound mystery, inviting us to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. In her book, Fleming Rutledge—a renowned preacher and theologian—invites us to delve into the richness and complexity of the Advent season. She challenges us to consider both the first coming of Christ as a humble child in Bethlehem and His future return in glory. Through her thought-provoking reflections, Rutledge helps us see Advent not just as a prelude to Christmas, but as a vital time for Christians to reawaken to the realities of God's kingdom breaking into our world. According to Rutledge:

“Of all the seasons of the church year, Advent most closely mirrors the daily lives of Christians and of the church, asks the most important ethical questions, presents the most accurate picture of the human condition, and above all, orients us to the future of the God who will come again.”

Our study will be a time of shared discovery. We will discuss the deep themes of Rutledge’s work, explore scripture together, and engage in meaningful conversations about the significance of Advent in our lives today.
