BELONG | Ambassadors at Downtown Church
We know belonging to a community isn't as easy as turning on a light switch. It isn't a nicely ordered path of saying yes to invitations and then automatically finding your crew. The path to belonging certainly isn't the same for each person.
Building a sense of belonging takes time. Friendships happen in expected and unexpected ways. The truth we know through following Jesus, is that we all feel a little bit on the outside. There is no "center" of belonging with Jesus. The landscape of the community is always changing. He's always pushing us toward the margins, opening us up to meet someone new, transforming us into who he wants us to be -- which means our needs for this community change as we ourselves change over time.
Still, we know we have some responsibility to those of you walking into our doors for the first time. We can show you where to find the bathroom. We can point you to events we're doing on our website. And, we can introduce you to other people, creating space where we can ask together, "Where is God?"
For each of those things, we have ambassadors at DOWNTOWN CHURCH. Their primary role at the church is to be available to new people, to meet with you, answer your questions and help you get involved. They are here to meet with you for coffee before worship, to sit with you during worship if you want, or to take you for brunch afterward.
Here's a list of some of them who have given us their permission to
publish here so you can contact them directly:
