Meredith Trout's Bio:
I'm a 2004 graduate of Presbyterian College with a BA in Religion and Christian Education. I worked for the PCUSA as a youth leader and Director of Christian Education for 14 years, and I grew up a PK (Pastor's Kid).
During my nearly 10 years at First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, NC, I began teaching fitness classes at the local YMCA. I had always been an avid participant of group fitness, and my childhood dance and cheerleading background ultimately led me to this new calling. In late 2018, I launched my own boutique fitness studio "BEATS" out of my basement, training four to five people at a time before and after work.
When the pandemic hit, the demand for personal and small group fitness grew dramatically. After 15 years with the church, I felt the calling to take my ministry from inside the church, to in the community; running the studio full time as a small business owner.
As a lifelong student, I have been fascinated by what drives each of us through our faith journey. This craving for spiritual knowledge coupled with a chance run in with an old friend led me to an Eastern Orthodox Christian Monastery. It was there where a whole new world of teachings about the early church fathers, the great saints of the church, and our Holy Mother Mary- had ultimately been cut off from us Protestants suddenly opened up to me. For the last 12 years I have been deep in study of our lost (to us) saints and Mary the Mother of God. It has enriched and deepened my faith, in profound ways. It is my hope that this study may deepen yours as well.
This study will include teachings from Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint John of the Cross, Saint Mary Magdalene, Saint Paisos of Mount Athos and The Holy Theotokos (Mary)
