WORSHIP | Update
Downtown Church,
As you probably know, with the rapid spread of the Delta variant, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently updated their guidance relative to face coverings, advising that people who live in high-transmission communities wear masks in indoor public spaces, even if they’ve been vaccinated. South Carolina, and Richland County specifically, are high-transmission communities. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control recently endorsed the new CDC position as well. Additionally, the Session has received advice from an epidemiologist who is also a member of our congregation.
Given the new guidance and our concern for the health and wellbeing of our congregation, the Session has approved continuing with in-person, indoor worship but effective this Sunday, August 1 all persons age 2+ and above will be required to wear a mask inside of Central Energy during our worship service. Also, communion will be served using the pre-packaged juice/wafer cups. The Worship Podcast will also continue to be available.
We know this will be an inconvenience for some but we believe it is our responsibility to help protect the most vulnerable in our DTC family and do our part to help control the spread of the virus while continuing to offer an outstanding worship experience.
As in the past, Elders will help remind you of the mask requirement and be able to provide masks if you forget yours. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and grace as we navigate these changing times together.
Gratefully,
DTC Session and Staff
