MONTREAT | High School Youth
Montreat? If you grew up Presbyterian, you might have heard about this place. If you didn’t, let me tell you about it. It’s nestled in the Appalachian mountains near Black Mountain NC (mon-treat = mountain + retreat… the namers were really creative huh?). I’ve heard it described as a thin place, meaning that it is an environment where the barriers between God and us, heaven and earth, are thin and blurred. As someone who grew up attending Montreat Youth Conferences, I can confirm that it is a place of rest, faithful exploration, connection, and all-around joy.
Well the youth of DOWNTOWN CHURCH are going to Montreat: June 13-19th (Leave Sunday; return Saturday). Each day of the conference we will participate in games, hear from a keynote speaker, do awesome energizers, have time with small groups, and spend time just hanging out in the beautiful mountains of NC, resting in God’s presence with each other and hundreds of other youth from around the country. Every evening there is worship led by a team of wonderful musicians and a guest preacher. For the week we are going there’s this guy you might know, Amos Disasa, who will be the conference preacher all week!
Montreat will be limited to high school youth (current, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade youth), the price which includes meals, transportation, lodging at our very own mountain cabin, and the conference itself is $600. A $103 deposit is required for registration. Registration is limited.
***COVID-19 has created a lot of uncertainty with the future, including summer of 2021. Everything is refundable. Therefore, if DOWNTOWN CHURCH and/or Montreat Conference Center deem it unsafe to carry out the conference we will issue a full refund.
if money is a deterrent, please reach out to Lucas at lucas@downtownchurch.me for scholarship information.
If you would like to sign-up please fill out the form below. You can pay the deposit online ($103) using the Montreat deposit link below or mail a check to the address below and write Montreat in the memo.
