MAKE | Advent Wreaths
Hope • Love • Joy • Peace
These, the four words of Advent (the liturgical season before Christmas), are four things that I could use right now.
These four feelings are what we, as Christians hold on to as we wait for the birth of Jesus. We hope that whatever present darkness we are in is not permanent. We love our neighbors, and especially those who are hardest to love. We find joy in the little things and the ways God shows up all around us. And we seek peace in our actions, our relationships, and within our mind. The beauty lies in that the final candle, the final Sunday is not a feeling but is simply Christ-- the one who brings all of these to us.
These four traits are ritualized in the Advent Wreath. Lighting the wreath is a traditional practice where we can take time each Sunday lighting one candle and thinking about how our lives might be filled with a little more hope, love, joy, or peace.
Our very own expert florist and elder Sarah Shell, will be leading a workshop where families or individuals can create their own advent wreaths. This will take place on Sunday, November 22nd from 1-2:30 at Central Energy. Masks are required and cost per wreath for registration is $25.
Due to space limitations, registration is limited and will close once we reach capacity of 15 families.
