CHURCH MUSIC | Lisa Loeb and Al Green

The sermon on Sunday is about love.

If it was about the God-loves-you kind of love, I wouldn't be staring at the blank screen of my word processing program on Thursday. The sermon is supposed to be about the you-complete-me, romantic love that the movies trivialize and preachers like me are scared to address cause we kind of don't know what we are talking about.

I'm not too confident about the sermon, but I'm confident that DOWNTOWN CHURCH might be the first worship service ever where the music of Lisa Loeb (Stay) and Al Green (Let's Stay Together) are gonna be propping up a sermon and helping us make sense of scripture.

See you Sunday.
