Take My Hand (God & Chelsey)

Isaiah 42:5-8

5 Thus says God, the Lord,
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and what comes from it,
who gives breath to the people upon it
and spirit to those who walk in it:

6 I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness;
I have taken you by the hand and kept you;
I have given you as a covenant to the people,
a light to the nations,

7 to open the eyes that are blind,
to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
from the prison those who sit in darkness.

8 I am the Lord; that is my name;
my glory I give to no other,
nor my praise to idols.

Crossing the street as a kid.
Grieving the loss of a loved one.
Awaiting college admission decisions.
Celebrating major life events.

What do all these have in common? They are made easier when someone is there holding your hand. How comforting is it to know that through all of life’s joys and challenges, God has us by the hand and won’t let go? In times when we feel confident and bold, God is walking right next to us, holding strong and supporting us. And, when we are anxious, unsure, or afraid of what’s next, God still has us by the hand and is leading us, pulling us along, and lighting our way. So when you feel called to a new place, a new job, a new relationship, or maybe you aren’t sure what path to take just yet, remember that wherever we are, God promises to use our unique lights as a covenant for the people to the glory of God.
